It has been really fun to introduce you to our staff and we continue our series by today catching up with Sarah- who has just joined the team recently, but really we have been seeing her face around Camp forever! We hope you enjoy reading this interview and that it helps you get to know Sarah better. ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ‘‹

It is so great to catch up with you today Sarah, what is your role here at Camp and how long have you worked here?

I am the Activities Coordinator at Camp and I have only been back working at camp on a permanent basis for 3 months now. In 2015 I was on as a PEAK Intern, and I have been kicking around the place volunteering with our Ministry camps since I was 14.

What do you love about Camp?

To me Camp is home. There is this unique feeling everytime I come though the front Gate, I know that the presence of God is here. I love My camp family and the support they bring, everyone from volunteers, board and staff. It is the sense of unity, like minded people working together to reach others for God, spreading His love. Holiday Camps were pivotal for me growing up and my faith, I am so thankful that my parents made the decision to get me involved at a young age.

How do you like to spend your weekends?

Anything outside. I am not fussy. I love spending time with my dog, camping and I try to do as much bushwalking as I can, I love trying new things and exploring new places. Basically anything where I can be out in creation. I also love playing around fixing/making things, I always have a couple of projects on the go.

If you could witness any historical event, what would you want to see?

As a Girl Guide and a Guide Leader I would have loved to have been at the Crystal Palace Boy Scout Rally after Sir Robert Badden had released his book Scouting for Boys and a group of Rebellious girls showed up wanting to be scouts too. To have seen the start of a movement that has now impacted millions of girls all over the world.

We want to know what you would choose to eat if you had to eat one meal every day for the rest of your life?

Steak. Give me the meat. ๐Ÿ˜‚

If you had to write a self-help book, what would the topic be?

Life-skills. I love being self-sufficient and teaching others how to do things for themselves. Training yourself to be practical, to be able to fix things. I think a huge problem with our society today is that we have let our hands become illiterate.

Okay finally, tell us something on your bucket list?

I would love to buy a property and set it up as completely self-sufficient as possible. That is my life goal. Make my own energy, grow my own food and just live simply.

Wow that is so interesting Sarah, you clearly sound so perfect for your outdoors role here at Camp. We also caught up with one of our volunteers Lucy to see what she had to say about Sarah.

Sarah is possibly one of the best things in this entire world. She cares unconditionally and is generous in every way. I donโ€™t think she could be placed in any better position. Solving problems, supporting and serving without judgement. Plus, she could keep you laughing for hours!
However, I better not mention her mathematical abilities. She still canโ€™t count her campers. Was it 19, 21 or 22… were you counting yourself? I was!!

She is the person you want in your circle.

Lucy Murfett

We hope you have enjoyed this interview with Sarah. Make sure you say hello to her when she is running your next activity.
