Welcome to another of our interviews with the Camp Clayton family! We hope you are enjoying getting to know everyone. Today we catch up with one of the people who has seen a lot of Camp and got to be part of the journey over a large number of the past years- Bruce. You may not know Bruce very well as he isn’t in a customer-facing role at Camp, but he helps keep things going by getting done the jobs around Camp. We hope you enjoy reading this interview and that it helps you get to know Bruce better. 😊👋

Hey Bruce, what do you get up to at Camp?

I do the electrical testing and tagging, plus help out on maintenance such as tractor mowing, slashing, spraying and whatever else needs doing.

It sounds like you’re a jack of all trades! How long have you been working at Camp?

I worked about eight years full time and nine years plus (and still going) as casual. We lived at Camp for about seven of those years where Anette also worked as a casual in the kitchen for some time.

What do you love about Camp?

Ahhhh what is there not to love? I particularly love the atmospheare of being part of the Camp family and working with like-minded people. I’ve often said God is in control of this place, he has to be for the way Camp has survived all the ups and downs over the years and is still going strong.

What do you like to get up to on the weekend?

Kick back and go for a coffee and catching up with family. Maybe a bit of woodcutting, ride the bike and of course church on Sunday we always look forward too.

If you could witness any historical event, what would you want to see?

That’s a hard one, but wouldn’t it be awesome to be standing watching the parting of the Red Sea? Wow, what an experience that would be.

If you had to eat one meal every day for the rest of your life, what would you choose?

Hot chips, chips and gravy, black sauce and chips! Definitely not lettuce!!

Haha, we can see you wouldn’t like lettuce! What about if you had to write a self-help book, what would the topic be?

Hmmm.. probably how to be a good parent and everything that goes with that. How to set a good example in life, as well as passing on a good work ethic to the younger generation.

Wow, that sounds really helpful to other parents
Okay finally, tell us something on your bucket list?

There were two major things on my bucket list. One was to travel Australia, which we have been fortunate enough to do. Plus I have always said I would like to travel to Canada, but for now, the TV will have to do for that dream.

We got a quick comment from Melle about Bruce.

“Bruce is what his generation is known for, hard working, committed and very genuine man. Always busy and happy to serve.”

We hope you have enjoyed this interview with Bruce. Keep an eye out for him on the tractor next time you are at Camp.
