About Us

Camp Clayton was established in 1948 and has been built upon an ‘army of people’ who have contributed considerable personal sacrifice to growing it to the impactful organisation it is today.

We are passionate about seeing young people grow and develop to their full potential. We have been providing camping and adventure programs for over 70 years, introducing young people to Christian values, building life skills and growing leaders for the future. Located beachside on the beautiful north-west coast of Tasmania, our facilities are perfect for your next school or youth camp, retreat or conference. We look forward to serving you and making your stay with us successful and enjoyable.

Camp Clayton has been the largest provider for Tasmanian school camps for several decades. Family reunions, retreats, conferences, and special interest camps continually return to Camp Clayton. We value all our guests as they experience all we have to offer and an environment of safety and quality is important to us. Our foundational Christian values are the basis for our service.
Camp Clayton (Christian Youth Centre Inc) was established, built and is still owned by local Tasmanian Christian churches generally affiliated with the Christian Community Churches of Australia. It is governed by a Board of Management responsible to an Association and is registered with the Australian Charities and Not-for-Profits Commission.

A history of generations

Camp Clayton has a proud and rich heritage built up over four generations.

From primitive and humble beginnings at the present site in 1950, Camp Clayton today is the accumulation of generations of volunteering, serving and commitment to create a place of spiritual retreat, fun and adventure, connection and belonging. Camp Clayton holds a special place in the hearts of thousands of young people who have attended camps for over 70 years.
Too many over the years, Camp Clayton has been an oasis, a turning point, a safe haven, a place of fun and belonging, the start of lifelong friendships, a learning ground, and a spiritual home.
Since the first incredible and now legendary efforts in the 1950s to take this site from a God-given vision to a reality, each generation has worked tirelessly and generously to build it, serve within it, and pass it on to the next generation, creating a wonderful legacy of service.
