We are so excited to introduce you to our long-term volunteers. People who are willing to come to Camp Clayton and serve and give time are vital to what we can do here in kids and young people.

“I have been volunteering at Camp Clayton since 2006 when I was a year 8 student. My first taste of “Camp” had been a year prior when I’d gone to a 7/8 camp over summer before year 7 and was mesmerised at how easily these older teen leaders seemed to be so cool. Anyone who knows me, knows I am rather dorky and I struggled to fit in when I was a kid – I desperately wanted to find a place where I did.
I have loved being a part of camp Clayton for the past 14+ years in a variety of voluntary capacities (from cabin leading, support staff roles and supervising camps). At times it was my home away from home and I would endeavour to do at least one camp each school holiday break. Sometimes I would spend my whole term breaks there doing the exhausting double-whammy of two straight weeks of junior/senior camps.
Over time this place has helped me become the adult I am; developing my leadership skills and giving me plenty of opportunities to stretch and grow. I’m now a teacher at Leighland Christian School, located nearby in Ulverstone- and I can’t help but gush over the next lot of teens coming through (many of whom I have taught!) starting to be leaders themselves at a place I love so much.
I have learnt to embrace my dorkiness and found my calling, in no small part thanks to the Camp Clayton community over the last decade and a half.”
